The best way of buying GBPs with Euros by Timo Jeranko
I have bank accounts both in Euros and Pounds, and regularly transfer small amouts (less than 500 pounds) between them. For thouse amounts I have discovered that by far the cheapest currency exchange option is to withdraw cash from a UK cash machine using the Mastro card from my Euro account, and then depositing the cash in my local UK bank branch. This ends up costing roughly 1.5% + £1-2...

Spotlight on Zionist Shills: How to recognize jewish surnames by England, Home of the English
Who's writing your newspaper and reporting your news? Who is making your movies and presenting your current affairs shows? Who are your politicians and who is paying them? Why is the West busy fighting Israel's regional enemies and the West's citizens busy bailing out Jewish bankers? Why can the richest nations in the world be jobless and homeless? Why is it whoever you vote for nothing changes...

ToGC ... or not? by Jane
Does anyone out there know much about ToGC (transfer of a going concern)? Are there any advantages/disadvantages of ToGC, compared to a simple supply of business assets, for the following situation? :- Current position: Sole-trader, supplies services (not goods), VAT-registered (partially-exempt) although trading below de-registration limit for last few years. Business assets comprise of...

Cash ISA Accounts - wait or commit? by zkat
With not too many days to go before the 2008/09 ISA deadline, there are some newspapers and websites suggesting there might be a last- minute rate war leading to new products being offered close to the deadline. Factoring in the time it will take to submit and process an ISA application, what's the latest date to wait until before committing to one of the Cash ISA products currently...

bank bonus dilemma by grouchy.oldgit@googlemail.com
Quite rightly there has been widespread anger at collapsed banks plans to use taxpayers money to fund bonuses to executives and staff. But there is one case that isn't so black and white. What of an individual trader who's had a successful year (by luck or ability) and actually made a large sum for the bank? Such people are usually employed on the understanding they will receive a percentage of...

RPI by mick
The RPI rate of inflation was 0.1% last month, with mortage rates and house prices falling it will probably go negative. The CPI is 3%. I wonder if index linked pensions which have normally been linked to the RPI will be switched. If not then they will not rise at all.The RPI is normally used in pay negotiations which means no pay increases.

Tax relief (greater than tax paid) on pension contributions? by Jonathan Morton[_2_]
I know the received wisdom is that ISAs are a better bet than pension contributions for basic rate taxpayers. However, what if the taxpayer's liability in a given year is less than £3,600? In the year just ending, my wife's income will be just over £8,000. The personal allowance is just over £6,000 so her tax liability will be about £400. She does not have relevant earnings, so her pension...

Advice on Credit Report by Steve
Hi, I'm after a little advice. I could wait and find out, but would prefer a bit of a heads-up. I pay my credit card off completely every month and have done since I don't know when. I used to pay by direct banking payment, but recently (January) I had the need to pay via the card's website via maestro. I went through all the usual - entering number and such - and then got to a screen...

Gold hit a double-top in US$, now will fall to $400 by taxationistheft2003@lycos.com
Deflation will make everything go down in price. Holders of gold will need the CASH to actually buy things and will sell for a nice profit. Gold to $400/oz.

Name and address for holiday money? by Bernard42
Whenever I buy holiday currency with cash, (whether it's a travel agent, Bureau de change, M&S store...etc) they ALWAYS ask for my name and address, even if it's only 50 quid. They all claim it's the "Money Laundering Regulations" and insist they won't use my details for junk mail etc. I just make up a name and address, or use Gordon Brown's, but do I have to? I can understand the need for...

Career goals by Gallagher
When applying for postgrad courses or MBAs, they often ask what your future career goals are, but am I incorrect in saying that this is a pointless exercise because nobody can accurately predict the future? Who can foresee 5 to 10 years ahead? It is one thing to have goals but given that the labour market is subject to the vagaries of supply/demand economics, what is the purpose of planning if...
