self employed or not.... by
michael_google@yahoo.co.uk
Hey folks, I wonder if anyone can help me. I currently work in a
butchers shop, and I have been asked to set up and run a website for
them. I get paid by the hour in the shop, and I have to invoice them
for the costs incurred and my time for the website. Should I register,
or is there any benefit to me registering as self employed for the
work on the website. I will be earning approximately £2500...

student finance 2008 by
crism
Hi guys, I need some advice on when to apply for student finance..
What I am concerned about is that my partner is expecting a baby, and
we will definately need more financial help than just a basic, so
should I apply for student finance now and just mention that she is
expectant, or better wait until 7th June (that's when baby is due) and
apply with all papework?
Thanks
Mike

Disgraced Jewish Northern Rock Chief Gets £1 Million Payout by

Northern Rock is giving disgraced former chief executive Adam
Applegarth a £760,000 pay-off, a £346,000 pension top-up and
continuing to honour his cut-price staff mortgage.
Mr Applegarth, who was responsible for devising and implementing the
bank's disastrously flawed strategy, is being paid the golden goodbye
in 12 monthly...

CEO by
Paul Harris
In their wisdom I see that they have renamed Traffic Wardens from
Parking Attendants to Civil Enforcement Officers. So next time you see
something from a CEO don't be fooled into to thinking it is the Chief
Executive its is probably the local Traffic Warden sending you a parking
ticket.

capital gains tax - are investors getting ripped off? by
k7878
471 words about capital gains that could save you thousands
As you probably already know capital gain is the difference between
the cost base of an asset and the price for which it is sold. What may
not be so obvious is that the way in which capital gains are
calculated can make a very big difference in how much tax you need to
pay.
Before continuing the explanation it is important to introduce...

Has anyone successfully opened one of these? You need a customer ID to log
onto the website, but the letter which is supposed to contain it doesn't.
You can ask the website to remind you of your customer number, but it says
"We have been unable to retrieve your Customer ID on this occasion. Please
contact the Helpdesk on 0844 800 11 44 for assistance.
So it would appear that the second...

Section 31T[_2_]
I have orderd a Statutory Credit Report for £2.00p
I've noticed on my pending transactions that Equifax has made a duplicated
transaction, (They charged 2x £2 = £4 in total).
Is there a contact email address I can use to contact Equifax and get the

Last minute tax planning can still save investors a hefty bill
By Steve Lodge
Financial Times

With the end of the tax year now just days away, investors should brace
themselves for a barrage of last-minute appeals to ³use or lose² their Isa
and other tax-saving allowances.

lost share certificate by
thedarkman
An acquaintance of mine has some shares he wants to sell before the
end of the tax year but he has a problem. He can't find the
certificate; he thinks he may have lost it when he moved house a
couple of years ago but has no recollection of ever seeing it, and the
Registrar has quoted him a ridiculous price, something like nine
hundred quid, for replacing it.
Is there a way around this?...

FSA and the HBOS crooks by
wendy_grunge@hotmail.co.uk
Wouldn't it be super if the FSA, having identified and successfully
prosecuted the crooks that spread the HBOS rumours, applied and got a
confiscation of their "proceeds of crime".
Mega sums have been suggested, quite enough to pay for the FSA for
while and deter future such criminality.

outstanding tax credits? by
Grouchy.Oldgit@googlemail.com
While surfing the Web for information on tax credits I came across a
Web site from taxcredits.org.uk stating that many people are owed a
tax credit payout from the Inland Revenue for the period 2002/3. The
site invites those that might be eligible to claim through it, but
then states a £94 processing / administration charge is deducted from
successful claims.
As these payments are made to those...
