I thought there was/is a law that any web site selling products in the UK
had to have a contact telephone number. Can anyone confirm this. |

The Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002 require the website to display the geographic address (not a PO Box or mailbox address) from which the service is provided, and an email address with which to contact the operator. If the website is operated by a limited company then the Companies Act 1985 also requires the site to display the registered address (which may or may not be the same as the service address required by the E-Commerce Regulations). There is no requirement to provide any other form of contact. So an eCommerce website can operate entirely legitimately with no telephone number displayed. I don't think that's the case Mark. I haven't heard anything along those lines yet.
