I have been out of work for nearly four years due to a back injury. I have been receiving E&SA for some of that time, and paying my mortgage with hard-earned savings. However now the time has come to claim help.

However I can't find anything on direct.gov or the CAB online service about savings thresholds for claiming SMI. From trawling through odd websites I think it may be (or have been) 6k to 16k (rated benefit to cutoff for help) ... But I would like a definitive answer.

Thanks for any help, or even better, a pointer to an official line.

Hi, I'm new today on your forum.
I have a holiday property in Greece with a mortgage on it provided some years ago by a Greek bank. I send the equivalent amount of sterling to the Greek bank each month to repay the amount due in Euros. I am trying to get my head around what the situation might be if (shudder) Greece went back to the drachma. I realise that a notional rate between euros and drachmas would be decided upon on exit. The loan would be the same no matter what, the drachma should get weaker ??, the property will be of less value, will I be better off then ? I'm confused !
many thanks for any input.
