Question Query: how can I get finance to pay for my Chinese GF to do a Masters in Finance?

Hi,

This is an odd one I'll admit but I am clutching at straws.

I met my girlfriend in China when i was visiting a friend out there last February she is now in her last year at the Shanghai institute of Foreign Trade. She is a good student and will do well. I have scuppered all her long held plans, to stay in Shanghai and get a job in Finance there, by falling in love with her and convincing her to come and live with me in the UK. I have a job and a mortgage here and don't speak Chinese so I can't move to China. The plan is for my girlfriend to do a Masters in Finance (Investment Consultancy or similar) at The LSE or City University. This would be a 1 year course and would mean she could get a student visa and then hopefully a job and a work permit after that.

...The problem being fees for the LSE are £18K for foreign students and although I do alright that is a lot of money to find (her parents are not well off but will have the £10K that they have to have in the bank as security for their daughter to study in the UK).
I could borrow the money (I hope I could but in the current climate perhaps I couldn't!) but is there anything else I can do to get funding?
I have suggested doing a work placement here for 2 years (after which she could pay the standard fees which are substantially less) but for some reason she is totally against this, saying that it would be seen as shameful and a waste of time and she wouldn't be able to explain it to her parents....
I know this is not the usual sort of financial problem but if anyone has any experience of funding an expensive university course, or if anyone has experience of work placements in financial institutions and has any advice it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
